Professional Proofreading Services

Refined proofreading for digital and print

Most people cringe at the thought of proofreading – not I! In fact, I love it! So, if you have something that needs running by a professional second pair of eyes, why not get in touch?

You may wonder why use a proofreader now that spell- and grammar checkers are ubiquitous. The answer is simple: I will spot things they won’t. Things like ‘you must now‘ instead of ‘you must not‘ (which can make all the difference in a set of instructions). Or ‘tit’ instead of ‘it’.

I will also spot missing words, inconsistencies in layout and content, misplaced commas that cause confusion – and much more. As a professional proofreader, I am trained to look for:

  • typos, misspellings, grammatical errors and punctuation issues
  • inconsistencies in content and layout
  • departures from style guidelines (if you have any – if not, I can create some for you)
  • problems with numbering sequences, tables, illustrations and references
  • ambiguity and opportunities to improve clarity, flow and readability.

Can your spellchecker do that?

About me

My name is Agnès. I love books, languages and … grammar! Sounds nerdy? Well, maybe, but I’m OK with that.

I was born and raised in France, but have been living in the UK since 2001 after twelve years in the US. When I’m not busy reading (for work or for fun), I enjoy exploring the beautiful county of Norfolk, where I live, meeting with friends, playing word games and picture cross on my tablet, and pretending that I remember how to play the piano.

I pride myself on honesty and integrity, because I believe in building relationships based on trust and respect. I also care deeply about my clients and the quality of my work, and am committed to providing the best level of service possible while working continuously to improve my skills.

Clients I have worked with include:

Specialist skills

  • English – fluent (and proficient)
  • French – native
  • German – good command

The best word to describe the proofread/appraisal that Agnès carried out on my website is ‘forensic’. Her eye for detail is mind-blowing. She not only proofread the content – picking up details that I had missed – but also made helpful suggestions to improve some of the more technical aspects.

Agnès produced a professional five-page report in which she detailed things I needed to put right – from extra spacing between words and incorrect punctuation to inconsistencies in formatting and the absence of title tabs. And it was all done in a friendly, respectful manner.

I have implemented every suggestion in the report and my website is better for it. I would thoroughly recommend Agnès of Precision Proof for all proofreading projects, both online and in print.

Whatever your query, please get in touch using the contact form below. I take your privacy seriously, and your contact details and documents will not be shared.

If you require a quote, please supply as much detail as possible about your project (e.g. nature of the document, length, turnaround time, your target audience, how much intervention you are looking for, what you are trying to accomplish, etc.).
